Himalayan Dairy at the Saturday Market, Nadipur – A Proud First Step

Aktualisiert: 24. Feb.

Yesterday was a special and memorable day for Himalayan Dairy. We proudly set up our cheese stall at the Saturday Market held at the Courtyard in Nadipur, Pokhara. This marked the very first time that cheeses produced by Himalayan Dairy were introduced to the public market.

For nearly 15 days, our team had been carefully preparing for this moment. From production to presentation, every detail was thoughtfully arranged to ensure we could showcase the best of what we have created.

The Saturday Market welcomed approximately 5,000 visitors, and among them, around 500 people visited our stall, interacted with us directly, and learned about our cheeses. For many, it was more than just tasting cheese , it was discovering something new.

Cheese and the Nepali Kitchen

In Nepal, cheese is still somewhat of a guest in the traditional kitchen. While many restaurants and hotels use cheese in a variety of dishes, cheese culture among the general public is still developing.

Understanding this, Himalayan Dairy has worked to create a fusion between global cheese-making techniques and authentic Nepali flavors. We proudly introduced nearly 10 varieties of cheese, including:

  • Himalayan Masala Cheese

  • Basanta Red with Methi

  • Feta Cheese with Nepali Herbs

These unique creations blend familiar Nepali tastes with high-quality cheese craftsmanship. At the market, the most loved varieties were Methi Cheese and Feta Cheese with Nepali Herbs, which received wonderful feedback from visitors.

Remembering Our Visionary

The market also saw the meaningful presence of friends of the late Basanta Raj Dawadi, the visionary planner of Himalayan Dairy.

Their support and encouragement added emotional value to the day and reminded us of the strong foundation upon which Himalayan Dairy stands.
